Bad stream quality in a high-latency jitter environment

I have Asterisk v.13.5 installed and I'm trying to forward that call to a VoIP provider. Everything goes well, except the quality of the call in the incoming direction (from the internet to the VoIP phone). In the other direction the quality is more than great.

I think this could be occasioned because of the network environment. It is a high latency (>1500ms) environment with a very big jitter in it.

Per example:

ping 8.8.8.8


gives latencies between 670ms and 2900ms.

I've tried

JITTERBUFFER
(adaptive and fixed) with different values but no good results.

What can I do?
