Time gains and looses since recent update/s (via conary)

Postby transcendent » Sat Apr 14, 2007 7:39 pm

Cannot accurately advise revision which caused problem, but time on AsteriskNow on PC loses and gains significantly.
Reminiscent of earlier trixbox issues.
PC Has lost 15 minutes in past 2 hours. Prior to resetting time via system config, system had gained six hours in past couple of days.
Test PC is old PIII 650 Acer laptop with Asterisk 1.4.2 Asterisk GUI-version Revision: 573 $
Anyone else experiencing time issues ??

Regards.. David

My Beta4 box reports no recent troves available, and appears to have ntpd up and running, which should be keeping your clock in sync. Is ntpd running on your installation?

Well, now you're into OS level issues, not application layer (which is what *now really is). Looking on google, this used to be an issue back in the 2.2 kernel days, but has started to show up again with 2.6. However, the developers say that that particular segment of code hasn't changed in the past few months (or years).

The key culprit is probably a buggy BIOS. Check to see if Acer put out any final updates for the BIOS.

Have set grub boot back to previous OS Version:
Linux 2.6.17.11-1.1.x86.i686.cmov #1 Tue Sep 5 23:54:38 EDT 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
and time problem has fixed.

Latest BIOS available is installed, so stuck with this OS version.

Which OS is in Beta 5 release ??

Beta5 is using 2.6.19.7-0.1 and apprently it has some trouble with my dual-processor Dell machine.
