TE820 cards problems

Postby dahdias » Wed Sep 03, 2014 3:44 am

We have 4 pieces TE820 cards in one server.
How we can define via settings on server, which card is number 1, which is number 2, which is number 3 and which is number 4?
Because if later we add for example 2 cards more in the server, the cards can change their position. for example card 1 will become other number/position, and all dahdi/chan_dahdi settings will require reconfiguration.

As i know in other cards, for example in TE420 it was possible to be done via ident wheel.

Can you help please?

As far as I know there is a jumper on the cards which is responsible for this. you set each card with a unique number and it doesn't matter if you change their PCI slot afterwards. Are you implying that there are no ident wheels on these cards anymore?

On the TE820 and all the newer cards, there are not ident wheels anymore. The problem with the ident wheels was that you had to have physical access to the cards in order to change the setting and the scheme did not work with cards that were serviced by other drivers.

The recommended way to control the ordering of the cards and spans with DAHDI is now the same as the recommended way to control the naming of USB drives, etc, with udev.
