Custom sound file playback very slow

Postby domburns » Wed Nov 05, 2014 3:55 am

Hi. Does anyone know how I go about converting a wav file to u-law and a-law that actually plays back at the correct speed?

When I record a wav file in, say, Audacity, and export it to u-law (using the 'other uncompressed files' > Options> Wav (Microsoft) > U-Law option), when it plays back on AsteriskNow it does so very, very slowly, as though it were recorded in super slo-mo.

It seems like such a simple thing but it's a bit of a show stopper at the moment.

What am I doing wrong?

Try with: audacity export as wav(asterisk valid format 8khz mono) then using asterisk's fileconvert app convert it to ulaw.

The easiest way is to record directly through the PBX using the system recordings function...

Thanks Deek. I took your advice, scrapped everything and rebuilt using the FreePBX GUI. Sounds work as expected now.
