trunk re-register

I am using Asterisk here, and once in a while I lose the trunk connection. I can see it in the Status panel. I haven't figured out yet how to re-register the trunk without restarting the computer. Is there a simpler and less time consuming way to re-register the trunk?

Also, the status panel has an option to "monitor trunk failures", and asks for an AGI script. It might be useful to have a script that sends me an email if the trunk goes down, or even attempts to re-register it. Does anyone know of such a script (and how to use it)?
