Attended transfer doesn't update CID information on screen

Hi all,

I'm having troubles with attended transfers.
When Party A calls B, and B transfers the call attended to party C, the CID of B remains in the screen of C. That should update to the CID of A.
When the call is transferd blind everything works fin.
I have tested with different brands of phones, all behave the same.

We need to have this running on the Yealink T28, and there I have tested with multiple values regarding CID field. It doesn't matter whether we select PAI, RPID or FROM, the screen isn't updated.
In the SIP dump I can see, depending on the asterisk config, that the FROM, RPID or PAI has the correct values in header of the invite messages.

The pbx is on Asterisk 11.

Can anyone help me out?

Howdy,

Talk to your phone vendor. If you've configured Asterisk to send the connected party updates and you can see Asterisk sending them, then it's probably your phone. Not all phones support connected party updates.

Hi Malcolm, It's a yelink T28, it support those updates.
Other phones (snom and jtsi) also don't update on this pbx...
I'm pretty sure a Digium phone won't do that either...but I don't have one to confirm.

Hi Malcolm,

an you tell me more about the 'Connected party updates'? I think this what I'm missing, or better, Asterisk is missing, at the moment.

Hi David, thanks I found this page too but don't know how to approach.
I can see the invite in the SIP packet containing all the info, what should I look for in Asterisk or the SIP packets to make de CID info on the phone update correctly?

Hi all,

just did some more testing, but when looking at the 'CONNECTEDLINE' lines in the Asterisks full log, I see that these updates are used when the call is initiated etc, but not when the call is finally transfered to the final destination.
In other words, after the attended transfer the connectedline update is not generated in Asterisk.
I'm running Asterisk 11.16 currently.

Hope anyone can help me out!

Update:

When the call is transfered the display isn't changing. However, when calling the party C again (when the initial call is running) the display suddenly updates correctly !!

No clue why this is happening.

Does anyone know how to manipulate the Asterisk config files in a way that the CONNECTEDLINE is updated after the attented transfer has finished?

Hi GuL,

I have the same info.
As far as I understand al the info is available, but Asterisk should send some sort of command to the phone in a way the phone knows to use the new information. I think this can be done with the CONNECTEDLINE sip command.
I have managed to stimulate this, by initiating a ring from another extension to the phone. It will update it's screeninfo with the one expected.
I was hoping someone from Digium/Asterisk was able to help us out here, but all they told me was to buy a Digium phone...not really the idea behind opensource i think.
Anyways, maybe in the future I'll buy a Digium phone and simulate this issue and return to the forum if I don't have found a solution in the meantime.

SOLVED: Attended transfer doesn't update CID information on

Hi all, I have finally resolved this issue.
This problem was resolved with a new firmware in the phones.
We were using Tiptel IP 286, but the latest Tiptel firmware contains bugs.
Upgrading the phone to a stable Yealink firmware did the trick.
