Call 7 digit without hitting send on phone

Postby masterchad » Mon Jun 08, 2015 4:37 pm

Hello All! And thanks for your help in advance.

I have 7 digit dialling working for local numbers just fine, but this customer of mine has decided it is of the up most importance that he not have to hit "send" on his phone after dialling the local 7 digit number. Is there a timeout setting somewhere or something to make it automatically attempt the call a couple seconds after no more numbers have been pushed?

I wasn't able to find anyone wanting to do this after many google searches, perhaps because I am using the wrong terminology. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Howdy,

You've got to program that into your phone's dial / digit plan. SIP phones, since they're intelligent little devices, have their own digit plan programming so that they know when to dial, or when to wait. Consult your phone manufacturer's documentation for the best way to do it.

That makes a lot of sense actually, thanks!

So it's a polcom phone, and I found the appropriate documentation at

http://support.polycom.com/global/docum ... ch_Tip.pdf

And I have done what I though makes sense, to make it sned after a 3 second timeout on numbers matching 7 digits that start with 2-9. Here is my phones default digit plan:

[2-9]11|0T|011xxx.T|[0-1][2-9]xxxxxxxxx|[2-9]xxxxxxxxx|[2-9]xxxT|**x.T

And here is what I have added

[2-9]xxxxxxT

If add this to the end of the digit plan it has no effect. So I assumed the order in which the digit plan is made must make a difference like a fireless rule. So I slowly moved it up the list in order. It works if it's at the top, however it doesn't let you dial anything BUT 7 digit numbers. Should it wait for a 3 second timeout before it decides to send the call? What did I do wrong? The time out settings as the default 3|3|3|3|3|3|3

Thanks again for the help!

I'm not a good person to ask about the intricacies of Polycom phones; perhaps someone else will chime in.
