we have an immediate Permanent opportunity for an Asterisk / Linux Technician / Junior System Administrator - £25k/£30k p.a. to join our Development Team located in NW5 London.

We require a linux technician / junior system administrator with extensive Asterisk experience to help manage a variety of systems used to deliver our business telephony services.

Required skills:

Asterisk / SIP familiarity, experience of and ability to edit Thirdlane (Multi Tenant PBX) and Asterisk scripts and understanding of how Thirdlane processes provisioning templates.

Linux shell scripting / awareness of Asterisk queue commands.

Basic familiarity with both Debian and Red Hat based systems (ability to install packages using apt and yum, dpkg and rpm). No experience of building applications from source expected.

Familiarity with performing basic O/S installations of the above systems, their different logging mechanisms and process startup scripts.

Experience of common client-server network services such as email (SMTP), web (HTTP), FTP and SSH.

Good skills with basic Linux command-line tools such as grep (simple pattern matching), find (simple searches), tail, cut, tr, ls, file, less, plus one or more standard text editors (vi, emacs, nano, etc).

Ability to search system and application log files, and correlate data from several sources to aid incident investigation.

Familiarity with basic networking concepts and diagnostic tools (IP addresses, default gateway, ping, traceroute).

Desirable skills:

Network engineering.

Linux software compiling.

Ability to create and modify Bash scripts.

Familiarity with more advanced Linux command-line tools such as sed, awk, grep (more than just simple pattern matching), rsync, xargs, find (including -exec).

Experience with Nagios or Icinga monitoring systems.
