Need Asterisk to let a caller know if a server is online

Postby ajayil » Fri Jul 17, 2015 11:17 pm

i run a small wireless internet service.

When a customer calls support, Id like Asterisk to let them know if we have an outage or not.

Was thinking maybe by Ping? to check if the router is active and online or dead.

"We currently have an outage in ______"

or it would give a default message of:

"We currently have no outages to report, please hold while we transfer you to a support rep"

You may easily make an application using AGI (and your favorite language such as PHP or Java) which gets user request , parse it and give him/her a voice response ! Here as a project for one of our customers (ISP) we've done such a project which identify the identity of caller by CID or entering the UserID -> retrieving the proper connection detail from Network DB -> check the network connections and link quality -> report the final result to user ! The whole process is done in less than 5 seconds.
Your incoming call (from PSTN - Trunk or even a desired DID or ...) will be route to your application , it answer the call and ...
