trying to get incoming fax working

I installed AsteriskNOW to replace my trixbox in an attempt to get T.38/faxing over sip to work - free fax for Asterisk doesn't seem to install w/trixbox and I'm not competent to start recompiling without breaking everything.

I have FFA installed, and an incoming fax is recognized.

Unfortunately, in the freepbx incoming route I don't have the 'system' extension which trixbox has - I can only send the fax to a 'real' extension.

I know that the manual has a section on 'simple fax dial plan' or some such, but I don't know what to do with it. I have installed the fax setup module in freepbx, but this only seems to have speed, header and email info.

Is there a simple set of directions for neophytes to actually implement this product in AseteriskNOW/freepbx? I'd be grateful.

Something like
create a extension of type X
cut and paste the receive/send info and put it in a file called Y in directory Z
do blah blah
faxing will work

that would be a terrific help to me and let me get this working the way I want/need it to. I'd love to be able to send faxes, but, hey, I'll start with correctly receiving.

Am I
a) the only one here
b) the only one who's ever been unable to figure out how this works
c) in a place where 'help' is a 4 letter word

d) just paranoid and some helpful soul will point me in the right direction?

I'm hopeful of d) - and I'm sure you're all out to get me <g>

Still looking for a path, bread crumb or cogent thought.

Do you have access to a command line for the box? SSH or direct Bash access?
